Tara Organic Farm - Khao Sok, Thailand

OUR STORY
Tara Organic Farm & School

Growing Food – Naturally

When the world slowed down during Covid, life in Khao Sok became very quiet. Tourism slowed. Shops closed. Food security suddenly mattered in a very real way.

For Tu, the answer was simple — return to the land.

Tara Organic Farm began as a small, practical response to uncertainty. A place to grow food naturally, using traditional Thai farming knowledge, healthy soil, and patience. What started as a way to feed one family slowly grew into something more meaningful.

From Survival to Sustainability

As the farm developed, it became clear that growing food naturally was not only possible — it was better.

At Tara Organic Farm, everything is grown without chemicals or pesticides. We focus on:

  • Healthy soil

  • Natural composting

  • Seasonal planting

  • Traditional Thai growing methods

Vegetables, herbs, and fruit are grown slowly, with respect for nature and the surrounding environment of Khao Sok. This approach produces food that is fresh, flavorful, and nourishing — and it supports the land rather than exhausting it.

Why Organic Farming Matters in Khao Sok

Khao Sok is one of Thailand’s most important natural areas. Farming here must work with nature, not against it.

Organic farming helps to:

  • Protect local soil and water

  • Reduce chemical runoff into rivers

  • Support biodiversity

  • Produce healthier food

For us, organic farming is not a trend — it is a responsibility.

What We Grow

Depending on the season, our organic farm produces:

  • Thai basil, Holy basil

  • Turmeric

  • Lemongrass

  • Kaffir lime leaves

  • Galangal

  • Chili

  • Eggplant

  • Long beans

  • Ginger

  • Bananas and seasonal fruit

Everything grown here is used fresh — either in our own kitchens or during cooking classes.

A Natural Connection to Thai Cooking

As the farm grew, friends and visitors became curious about the food.

  • How was it cooked?
  • Why did it taste different?
  • Could they learn?

We wanted to share our love of cooking and this led naturally to the creation of Tara Farm School. Now guests harvest ingredients directly from the farm and learn how to cook traditional Thai dishes using what they have just picked.

Tara Organic Farm is not a museum or a show farm. It is a working place where food is grown every day.

The farm and the cooking school are deeply connected — one cannot exist without the other.

From the Land to the Table

Tara Organic Farm is the heart of Tara Farm School.

Everything begins here — in the soil. Fresh herbs, vegetables, and seasonal produce grown on the farm are used in our cooking classes and enjoyed by guests at Tara Farm Café.

Real food. Grown naturally. Shared with passion.
